I’ll be monitoring the chicks over the next 24 hours to make sure everyone is looking healthy and then posting chick availability tomorrow evening. 🐥🐥

This is a small hatch - mostly Straight Run Hedemora. It is still early in the season, and each week I am seeing more and more eggs developing from each group. We rely on nature to do its thing and go from there. I appreciate everyones patience as we get going for the year. 🥰

🐣March Updates🐣

Our first chicks of the season will be hatching March 10th. A majority of the chicks will be Hedemora, but I should have a few Legbar, Welsummer & F1 Olive Eggers. All available chicks will be posted the evening of March 11th.

March 24th - Breeds will be Legbar, Welsummer, F1 Olives, a few Hedemora, and possibly some Silverudds Blue, Mint Egger, and Silver Wellie. Chicks will be posted the evening of March 25th.

I am adding in an extra hatch date - March 31st. 🙂 Hopefully all breeds 🤞Chicks will be posted the evening of April 1st.

I have set some Goose eggs & if all goes well we should have some Goslings the first week of April.

I’ll be checking Quail eggs to see if they are fertilized and hope to have eggs in the incubator for a hatch on April 4th.

As a reminder, I will not be offering any hatching eggs until after March 10th. I am not keeping a waitlist. You will need to reach out to me once availability is posted.

There is no waitlist or pre-orders for chicks. Chicks will be posted and are available on a first come, first served basis. Local pick up only.

These eggs are on their way to get cleaned up and then into the incubator! Right on schedule for a March 10th hatch. Any chicks from this first test hatch will be posted for pick up once hatched.

Many of you have reached out in regards to ordering and shipping chicks this season. So here is the plan!

After a lot of thought I have decided NOT to resume shipping chicks or hatching eggs. This was not an easy decision to make and I have been back and forth on it for months. With life being as busy as it is, and word of rising shipping costs and a new surcharge for each shipment - the cons were longer than the pros list. I’m sad we won’t be sharing the flock as far as we have in the past, but this will save the chicks and I some stress in the long run.

Moving forward I am focusing more on filling our self serve egg stand and less on hatching. However, I will still be keeping small breeding groups and hatching 1-2x each month. Available chicks will be posted to our Facebook/Instagram as they hatch. This will be on a first come, first served basis. I will not be doing pre-orders nor will I be keeping a waiting list. This includes, Chicks, Quail, Ducklings, Goslings, Coop Ready Pullets and Hatching Eggs. A tentative hatching schedule is posted on the website.

Our Website is linked to both Facebook & Instagram. You will no longer be able to place orders, but it is a great place to view photos of our breeds, prices, and descriptions. It is also important to read through our policies and disclaimers.

I began hatching as a hobby because I genuinely love the birds, and the genetics involved in what makes each breed unique. I’m looking forward to hatching in smaller batches this year and honing in on some of the characteristics I’d like to see more of from my flock.

I know everyone is getting antsy with Spring coming fast and the egg shortages, but we are still waiting for most of the hens to resume laying from their winter break. I promise we will have plenty of babies and eggs to share with all of our local supporters once laying resumes. 🐣❤️🐥

2024 Season Update!

Spring chick orders are closed. Hatching eggs will be available on the website through the end of June.

Spring pullets got snatched up before I could post them, but I have more in the works! I anticipate having them all ready for pick up the week of July 15th. Ages will range between 6-12 weeks and I should have a few of each breed available.

I haven’t decided if I will offer Fall chicks, I may just do another round of started pullets for September/October.

The Quail took their sweet time picking back up this year, but they are worth the wait!

We got our very own Easter surprise when not one…not two…but THREE little White Legbar chicks hatched out of my Cream Legbar pen this week! I am thinking one pullet and two cockerels…though they are not as easily sexed as their auto-sexing Cream parents.

We had brought in a new line this year to replace our previous Rooster who was getting old. Apparently our new roosters as well as some of our hens carry the recessive white gene. When both parents pass on their recessive gene, we get White chicks! I am so excited for these new, fun genetics!

I’ll be sharing some updates as they feather out. 💕

The egg stand is going green for the next little bit 🌿 Instead of our usual 🌈 dozens, our egg customers will be receiving all green eggs. Just until production picks up enough that I can fill both the incubators and the egg stand. 💚

These colors are what you can expect from our two green laying crosses, our Sex-Linked F1 Olive Eggers & our “Silver Wellies”. Both crosses are producing a good amount of large & small speckles, with the Silver Wellies laying a slightly deeper tone than the Sex-Links.

The egg stand is going green for the next little bit 🌿 Instead of our usual 🌈 dozens, our egg customers will be receiving all green eggs. Just until production picks up enough that I can fill both the incubators and the egg stand. 💚
