10 CHICK MINIMUM - YOU MUST PURCHASE AT LEAST 10 QUAIL CHICKS. Quail are sold unsexed and you must keep them in  a 5:1 Female to Male ratio for a healthy covey. We suggest starting with 20 if you are just starting with Quail. Please have a plan in place for any extra males you may end up with before purchasing. 
 
Celadon Quail are Coturnix that carry a special gene that will allow them to lay Blue eggs. We have brought in Quail from 3 different "True Blue" lines to create our breeding pen. Most of the offspring should lay Blue, however the gene is recessive. We have not DNA tested our adult Quail, so please note a possibility of brown egg layers. You will only receive chicks that have hatched from Blue Eggs. Mixed Feather Colors. CHICKS ARE SOLD AS STRAIGHT RUN. They can be vent sexed at 8 weeks old once they reach maturity. 
 
Coturnix quail are the cutest and most efficient addition to any homestead or urban farm! They are quiet little birds that do well in confined predator safe spaces. Quail are dual purpose and can be used for meat and eggs. They begin laying eggs at only 8 weeks old. You can expect 6 eggs a week, and laying all year round with supplemented light in the winter. Quail eggs are packed with vital vitamins and minerals. Regular consumption of quail eggs helps fight against numerous diseases. 
 
Please note: Quail chicks cannot be in the same brooder as Chicken chicks. While similar, they have different care requirements. We hatch our Quail chicks on different dates than our Chickens. If you order both, you may have to pick up on two seperate dates.
