The Silver-Wellies are a beautiful production cross between our top two favorite breeds - Welsummer and Silverudds Blue. We have combined a Silverudds Blue Rooster over our Darkest & most Speckled laying Welsummer Hens. Chicks will hatch Blue and Black. Most Hens will have beautiful Silver lacing detail in their hackles and breast feathers. Roosters will be brilliantly colored with Birchen hackles & saddles and gold leakage on wings and breasts. 
 
These are a First Generation Olive Egger Cross, but because the Silverudds Blue already lay a beautiful Green shade, resulting eggs will resemble a deeper Golden Olive color.  These are bred for heavy speckling, but they do not always add speckles to their eggs and when they do it will not be a daily occurance. We are using a new rooster this year, and have not yet tested him to see if he is a double Blue gene carrier. Until we have test results please account for a possibilty of Brown egg layers from this cross. *See Egg Color Disclaimer on Policy tab*
 
Great egg production! You can expect 5-6 eggs a week per hen.
 
Both hens and roosters will remain on the small side due to their Silverudds Blue genetics. Roosters should keep a good temperment and rarely become aggressive.
